Stokes Sounds Academy · 4-month mentorship

Stop overthinking every mix. Start releasing.

A coaching system for self-producing singer-songwriters and recording artists. You get the structure, feedback and accountability to release commercial-quality music for the rest of your career, without relying on an engineer, AI or another tutorial.

The discovery call is free and takes 45 minutes. Limited spaces, so every artist gets personal attention. Payment plans available.

Sound familiar?

Talented artists stay invisible for five reasons.

None of them are about talent, and none of them get fixed by a new plugin. Each one comes down to a missing system, and that system can be learned.

01 · THE UNRELEASED ARTIST

“My finished songs are sitting on a hard drive because every mix feels amateur.”

Why it happens
You don't trust your ears because you have no system.
Where you'll be
Releasing with confidence every month.
02 · THE TUTORIAL ADDICT

“I've watched hundreds of tutorials and I still don't know what to do first.”

Why it happens
You have plenty of knowledge but no way of putting it into practice.
Where you'll be
One repeatable workflow you use on every song.
03 · THE OUTSOURCING TRAP

“I pay an engineer every single time I release.”

Why it happens
Your creative output depends on someone else.
Where you'll be
Mixing your own music professionally for life.
04 · THE TRANSLATION NIGHTMARE

“It sounds great in the studio, then falls apart in the car and on headphones.”

Why it happens
You're guessing instead of following a process.
Where you'll be
Mixes that translate professionally everywhere.
05 · THE PERFECTIONIST

“I keep tweaking forever and never actually ship anything.”

Why it happens
You have no confidence in your choices and no deadline to work to.
Where you'll be
A consistent, releasing artist.

The transformation

From frustrated creator to confident self-producing artist.

Over four months, the goal is to change how you see yourself as an artist, not just to give you more information.

  1. Book & talk

Pick a time for your free discovery call and answer a few quick questions about where you are. Then we talk it through on Zoom.

  2. Build the system

Replace guesswork with one repeatable workflow that you understand and trust.

  3. Train your ears

Weekly feedback on your real songs until your mixes translate on every system.

  4. Release, repeatedly

Accountability and deadlines that turn a hard drive full of songs into a catalogue.

Real artists. Real results.

Don't just take my word for it.

Every artist below gave five stars. They talk about the same things again and again: Ed gets their vision, communicates from start to finish, and doesn't stop until the track sounds right.

Ed gets you, your song, and takes it to the next level!

“I return to Ed regularly for production and mixing. It is truly rare to find someone who puts as much effort and enthusiasm into a project like Ed does, even in such a saturated industry. You start off identifying what makes the song great and how it can grow. Soon you're bouncing off each other's ideas until eventually it is as if Ed was a part of the project from the very beginning. Ed gets you and your song to a place where it needs to be and pushes you as the performer to get the best out of every little take. The inventiveness is always there and that's what you need in such a creative environment.”

Sam Handy

Talent, skill, attention to detail.

“I'm always hesitant to work with new people as it can be a daunting experience being an independent artist and having to invest a lot of time, money and effort into my work. Luckily working with Ed I have always found his talent, skill, attention to detail and easy going nature has made the experience worthwhile and an absolute pleasure. We have worked on several songs together and he is able to create captivating, impressive, modern tracks from just a few simple ideas. We always have a great time in the studio and he creates a safe environment that enables me to produce the best possible vocals I can. He somehow seems to exceed my expectations every time I work with him, I really could not recommend anyone more.”

Ed Stokes is the fricken Maaaan!!!

“I've been releasing music since 2016, and I always thought it sounded the best it could sound.

Oh how wrong I was!

A friend suggested that I go to Ed for mixing and mastering my latest single, and I will be using his skills for everything I do moving forward. He was prompt with communication and delivery, he was really easy to discuss ideas with and I felt that he grasped what I wanted from our first chat.

Top bloke, top engineer. Top recommendation from my pal. I'm a very satisfied customer.”

Fullmarx

Top tier quality!

“I don't think I'll go anywhere else for my mixes. Ed was extremely attentive to the overall sound and my fine details. When there's a problem with any part of the mix, he makes me feel comfortable no matter how small the issue or change. Sometimes I might just be changing my mind on a particular idea and it's never a problem for him to go back and forth. The quality is top tier, that of a professional track and for an amazing price. I think Ed will be one of the top producers charging thousands for his time one day, so everyone make the most of his service. It is such a massive thing for any artist to have their vision respected and of course for the producer to try to nail the vision. This is why I work with Ed. 10/10 on all fronts.”

Luch Stefano

The easiest, most professional process.

“Ed created my tracks into everything that I could have imagined and more!

To the T with my reference tracks, and it was the easiest most professional process. From getting to know me, to being so welcoming and supportive in the studio sessions, and sending over final versions so quickly, with any changes I requested.

Would 100% recommend and will definitely be working with him again!”

Ines

Super happy, a pleasure to work with.

“Ed and I have been working together for a while now. He's always open to work in different genres and has helped me find my sound. Ed always seems to get what I want out of a track and makes my idea come to life. He's a top lad and a pleasure to work with and I would strongly recommend him to anyone who wants their track to compete with the best in the business. When you get a mix back from Ed, it's like opening a present on Christmas Day.

Super happy with how my new single turned out. Thanks Ed!”

Callum Lacey

Always top quality!

“Ed has made me feel super comfortable and confident with the music that we work on together. The production is always top quality and sounds so professional, and without a doubt, every time leaves me astounded!

Couldn't ask for a better colleague and friend, and would highly recommend any musician/artist who is looking for a producer to use Ed for certain! The mixing and mastering of the tracks are always so tight and always sounds awesome.”

Brooklyn Wyatt

Highly recommend any musician from any genre!

“Ed is a lovely guy to work with!

He makes you feel super comfortable and confident in the studio with him. He has done an amazing job mixing and mastering my vocals for this track while also helping me out with harmonies. I'd highly recommend any musician from any genre to work with him because he's super hard working and won't stop till he gets the track sounding as good as you want it!”

Henrietta Adewole

Absolutely outstanding mix!

“Ed was an absolute pleasure to work with, the mix that he did for me was absolutely outstanding.

I highly recommend, throughout the whole process was communicating with me from start to finish and the end product was just amazing!!!”

Who it's for

We invite committed artists. We don't convince everyone.

The Academy works because everyone in it is serious. Be honest with yourself about which column you're in.

This is for you if you…

  • Already record vocals and produce at home
  • Have somewhere between 5 and 50 songs in progress
  • Listen critically to commercial records
  • Have spent months or years learning on YouTube
  • Want a lifelong skill instead of outsourcing
  • Value coaching, feedback and consistency over shortcuts
  • Are prepared to invest in mastery

It's not for you if you…

  • Just want one song mixed (book a mix instead)
  • Are only looking for a cheap course
  • Believe plugins can replace skill
  • Aren't willing to practise
  • Are looking for hacks instead of mastery
  • Blame your gear instead of your process
The real cost

The most expensive engineer is the one you need forever.

Paying for every mix costs you again on every release. Learning the skill is a one-time investment that pays off on every song for the rest of your career.

Meet Ed

A teacher, not a guru.

Ed is a mixing engineer with over 10 years of experience and the host of the Stokes Sound podcast, where he talks with working engineers and producers about how they actually get results.

He built the Academy for the artist he kept meeting: talented, hard-working and stuck. They had hundreds of tutorials behind them and a hard drive full of songs nobody had heard. What they needed wasn't more information. They needed a system and someone to hold them to it.

Ed's approach is clear rather than clever, and confident without arrogance. He'll respectfully challenge the beliefs that are holding you back.
